The renewable energy feed-in tariff pays eligible Northern Territory households for the excess electricity they generate from small-scale solar (photovoltaic or PV), wind turbine or hydro systems.
The Power and Water Corporation (Northern Territory government-owned corporation) website has more information about feed-in tariffs. You can also contact electricity retailers in your area for more information.
If you already have a renewable energy generation system installed and aren’t receiving a feed-in tariff but want to, you'll need to contact your energy retailer to determine your eligibility.
You could also be eligible for financial assistance to help with the cost of installing a small-scale solar system under the Australian Government’s Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).
Feed-in credits or payments you receive may have implications if you receive any Centrelink or other benefit payments, they may also be considered as assessable income by the Australian Taxation Office.
